Coming to Manitowoc...

...on Sunday, June 21, 2009, the Maritime Bay Bike Classic is a day of bicycle races, part of the Tour of America's Dairyland series. Approximately 450 riders are expected to participate in seven races. The excitement will last from noon till about 7:30 pm. The races will take place on a 0.7 mile course centered on Washington Park in downtown Manitowoc, with the start-finish line in front of the Lakeshore Cinema Cafe.

The races are spectator-friendly, with free admission and curbside viewing along the whole course. Vendors selling food and beverages will be located in Washington Park.

As part of the action, there will be two "public races" for riders who are not part of the Dairyland Tour, but would like to try their hand on a USCF course. There will also be a children's race for kids 3 to 8 years old, with goody bags and medals going to the first 100 participants registered. Information on the public races is available here.

The Maritime Bay Classic made its debut back in 1989 on Manitowoc's north side. During its first 18 years, it was associated with the International Cycling Classic (SuperWeek) Series. After a two-year hiatus, it is returning as part of the Tour of America's Dairyland produced by the Midwest Cycling Series. Riders from all over the country, and as well as from foreign countries, are coming to participate. Local riders are invited to race on a one-time basis if they wish. Information will be posted on this website as it becomes available.

Come and enjoy this day of excitement and fun!

Plans are still being finalized for some aspects of the Bike Classic. Every attempt is being made to ensure the information on this website is accurate and current. However, this cannot be guaranteed.
